Driving the Ring Road in a week
Route 1 circles the whole island in about 1332 kilometres, and most people give it seven days. That is enough to see the south coast properly and still have an evening in Akureyri.
Book the two nights that sell out, Vík and Höfn, and let the rest of the week bend around the weather.
Ferries to the Westman Islands leave from Landeyjahöfn several times a day in summer, but the crossing moves when the harbour silts up.

Alt+Shift+N shows the note where you are, and hides it again. Press B with something selected to drop it in.

A control, not a widget.
It behaves like something the browser came with. It appears when you select, sits beside the words without covering them, and is gone when you click away or press Escape. Below is the bar at actual size.

A sum, a price, a colour, a phone number: the matching action leads the bar, tinted so you can tell it was summoned. Plain prose gets none.

Nine actions show up only when the selection matches, and they do the work in place. Point at anything highlighted in this note to see the bar that selection would get.

Open URL O opens it in a new tab, scheme or no scheme.

Show on map L opens the address in Google Maps.
Convert colour format K shows a swatch, and copies the format you did not select: hex or RGB.

A single word gets Define as well. Everything else in the bar is there for any selection.

ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude or Perplexity open in a new tab with your selection and a prompt in the box. Nothing passes through a server of mine, and there is no key to paste.

One click when you already know the question. Give an assistant a default prompt in Settings ("Proofread and summarize:") and clicking it sends straight away, no dialog. Hold Alt to ask something else.
Saved prompts for the rest. Summarize, Key Points, Explain, Improve and Translate come built in. Add your own; they are one chip away every time.
Your hands stay where they are.
While the bar is open, one key runs an action. The first nine answer to 1 to 9 as well, so the order you chose in Settings is the order on your number row. Escape closes it.

Actions and order
Switch any action on or off, by group, and number the pinned ones. Copy and Settings stay on.
Position
Side, alignment (start, centre, end) and both offsets, with a live preview. At a viewport edge the bar flips to the other side by itself.
Theme
Light, dark, or automatic with the system, for the bar and for Settings.
Search engine and currency
Google, DuckDuckGo, Bing, Brave, Perplexity or YouTube; 21 currencies to convert into.
Voice
Rate, pitch, volume, language and voice for Read aloud, from the voices on your computer. Works offline.
It reads the selection, not the page.

Is it free?
Yes. Everything on this page works without an account. Signing in with Google is optional and adds Ask Claude, Ask Perplexity and ChatGPT temporary chats.
Which browsers?
Chrome, Edge and Firefox each have their own listing, and Brave, Vivaldi, Opera and Arc install from the Chrome Web Store. The button at the top picks the right one.
Does it slow pages down?
No. The script on each page does one thing, wait for a selection. The bar carries no web fonts, no blur and no animation library, and it renders in its own shadow root, so the page's styles and the bar's never touch.
Where do highlights live, and can I get them out?
In your browser's own extension storage, on your machine; nothing is uploaded. The Highlights panel (Alt+Shift+H) copies or downloads everything as Markdown, a heading per page with its link, a quote per highlight and your note under it, so it pastes into Obsidian, Notion or a text file.
What happens to a highlight when the page changes?
The extension keeps the exact text with a little context around it and looks for it again on every visit, so an edit elsewhere on the page does not lose it. If the passage itself is gone, the highlight stays in the panel marked as not found on this page. Nothing is deleted for you.
What can Calculate do?
Arithmetic with brackets, percentages ("15% of 80") and unit prices. The answer shows in the bar and is copied at the same time.
Where does an AI prompt go?
To the assistant's own website, in a new tab, with your prompt and the selected text in the box. There is no API key and nothing passes through a server of mine. Gemini has the prompt pasted in for you.
How does Read aloud sound?
It uses the voices installed on your computer, so it works offline. Rate, pitch, volume, language and voice are in the Speech tab. Click again to stop.
It appears when I do not want it
Press Esc, or click anywhere. It shows only after a selection, and the Position setting moves it to the side you find least in the way.
Why does the store say it can "read and change all your data on websites"?
That is the browser's wording for a script that runs on every page, which the bar needs to appear beside text wherever you are. It reads the current selection, only when you act on it, and changes nothing.
Can I see what changed after an update?
Yes. A dot on the Settings action means there are release notes you have not read; clicking it shows what changed since the version you were on.
